Israel Brubacher, of Mine Centre, Ont., passed into eternal rest on Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012 at the age of 75 years, five months, and one day.

He was born May 19, 1937 in Wellesley Township, Ont. to John and Lovina (Martin) Brubacher.

On June 16, 1959, he was united in marriage to Lovina Martin of West Montrose, Ont. They enjoyed more than 53 years together.

In 1975, they moved with their family to Rainy River District, where they farmed near Stratton, Ont. In 1985, they moved to Mine Centre, where he resided until his passing.

Israel is survived by his beloved wife, Lovina, of Mine Centre, Ont.; six children, Mervin (Selina) of Barwick, Ont., Marie of Barwick, Ont., Shirly of Mine Centre, Ont., Willis of Mine Centre, Ont., Clare (Charlene) of Emo, Ont., and Marilyn of Mine Centre, Ont.; as well as 11 grandchildren, Marlene, Philip, Galen, Lauretta, Kathryn, Joanne, Nathan, Joseph, Vincent, Taimi, and Sean.

He also is survived by four brothers, Isaac (Leona) of Linwood, Ont., Henry (Sarah) of Linwood, Ont., Clarence (Elmeda) of Wallenstein, Ont., and Emanuel (Velina) of Hawkesville, Ont.; as well as one sister, Elizabeth, of Floradale, Ont.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Lovina; and one sister, Susannah, who died in her youth as a result of a traffic accident.

Israel was a member of the Mine Centre Mennonite church. He enjoyed the fellowship of his church family, as well as the friendship of people in many communities he had opportunity to learn to know over the years.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont., followed by visitation from 6-8 p.m. at the Pineview Mennonite Church in Barwick, Ont.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2012 at 1 p.m. at the Barwick Community Hall in Barwick, with interment at the Pineview Mennonite Cemetery.
