Muskie girls win gold at tourney

The Muskie girls’ hockey team earned its second tournament win of the season Saturday in Portage la Prairie, Man., beating the Kenora Broncos 3-2 in the final of the PCI Saints Christmas Classic.
The previous tournament triumph for the black-and-gold came in October, when they edged the Broncos by that same 3-2 margin at the Sturgeon Heights tournament in Winnipeg.

Fort High advanced to the final after going 3-0 in round-robin play, easily dispatching St. Norbert 6-1, blanking St. Mary’s 6-0, and throttling Selkirk 12-0.
The Muskie girls were to conclude their pre-Christmas schedule with home games against Lake of the Woods and Sioux Lookout tomorrow and Wednesday.
But both games were scrubbed due to the curtailing of extra-curricular activities by teachers at Fort High.
In other Muskie action over the weekend, the junior boys’ basketball team finished fifth in their home tournament while the senior girls’ volleyball squad had a third-place showing at a tourney in Dryden.
