It is with great sorrow that the family of Murray Fairnington announces his sudden passing on Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Rainy River Hospital.

Murray was born on September 22, 1947 in New Castle, England to Matt and Ada Fairnington.

The family moved to Canada when he was a young boy, first settling in British Columbia, then traveling to Woodstock, ON.

Matt moved the family one more time, settling in Fort Frances to work on the Causeway.

Murray lived in the Rainy River District the rest of his life, enjoying the outdoors with his family and friends by his side.

He was united in marriage to Valli Shybyski on August 18, 1967 and they would have celebrated 45 years together this year.

He worked for the Town of Fort Frances for 36 years retiring in 2008.

He leaves behind his wife, Valli; sons, Mark and Brad; granddaughter, Kiera; stepmother, Astrid; as well as stepbrothers, Ron and Dennis Mosbeck and their families.

Murray was predeceased by his parents Matt and Ada; in-laws, Nellie and Bronie Shybyski; and grandmother, Hannah.

A visitation was held on Monday, June 25, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, ON

A memorial service was held on Tuesday, June 26, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, ON. Reverend Mr. Bob Grynol officiated.

The honourary pallbearers were Tuffy George, Jeff Oveson, Darwin Woods, Rick Bird, Bill Bird, Leonard Maki and Dennis Selman.

The active pallbearers were Don Roth, Larry Oveson, Alan Eide, Larry Phillips, Dorian Lindholm, Gregg Edenberg and Rod Cupp.

If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, 920 Frenette Avenue, Fort Frances, ON.
