It is with great sadness that the family of Eugenia Campagnaro, 87, announces her passing on Saturday, April 7, 2012 at the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre in Thunder Bay, Ont.

It is with a feeling of gratitude and joyfulness that we know she is in the arms of our Lord and the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Eugenia was born Dec. 13, 1924 in Rosa, Vicenza, Italy to the late Angelo and Giuseppina Campagnolo.

On April 27, 1946, she was united in marriage to Marco Campagnaro. In 1957, she immigrated from Italy to Canada with two small children to join her husband, Marco, who was waiting for them, which was a testament to her strong and brave spirit, as well as her unconditional and unending love for her husband.

The family made their home in Churchill, Man. for 12 years, where they welcomed many immigrants from Italy. In 1968, they moved to Fort Frances, Ont., where strong community ties were made.

Eugenia remained in the family home until March, 2010, when she moved to Thunder Bay to be with family.

Throughout her life in Canada, Eugenia maintained strong ties with family in Italy and travelled back often to see family and friends.

Eugenia always will be remembered by everyone whose lives she touched so deeply with her gentle, loving, and caring spirit. Eugenia believed in the home, where she always greeted everyone with a warm hug and smile, and showed her love through her wonderful cooking, baking, sewing, knitting, and by being a generous, giving person to all.

Her unconditional love for her family and friends, near and far, will live on in all of us.

Eugenia will be lovingly remembered and missed by her son, Gaetano Campagnaro (Janice Caswell) of Toronto, Ont.; daughter, Carla (Jim) Kibiuk of Thunder Bay, Ont.; grandchildren, Damian Campagnaro (Emillie Jones) of Toronto, Ont., Christina Love (Darran) of Winnipeg, Man., and Evan Caswell of Hamilton; and great-granddaughter, Isabella Love.

Eugenia was very much looking forward to becoming a “Bisnonna” once again in July, and now will be watching from Heaven over the new addition to the family.

Also mourning her passing are her brother-in-law, Ernesto Campagnaro (Natalina); sisters-in-law, Angelina Campagnaro, Sandra Campagnaro, Paolina Campagnaro, and Amelia Campagnolo; as well as extended family in Canada and many nieces and nephews in Italy.

Eugenia was predeceased by her beloved husband, Marco Campagnaro; father, Angelo Campagnolo; mother, Giuseppina Remonato; brother, Andrea Campagnolo; and sisters, Amelia Campagnolo and Angelina Campagnolo.

A funeral mass was held Wednesday, April 11, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Holy Family Roman Catholic Church in Thunder Bay, with Fr. Antonio Fujarczuk officiating.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, April 12, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Deacon Bob Grynol officiating.
