JENNIFER MARGARET PERREAULT

(Dec. 29, 1954—April 2, 2012)

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Jennifer Perreault, a wonderful mom, sister, grandmother, daughter, auntie, and friend.

With family at her side, she fought a good fight against cancer but succumbed to her illness on Monday, April 2, 2012 at 2 a.m.

She will be lovingly missed by her children, Mary Lorraine Johnson, Steve Johnson and wife, Christina, and Leonard Johnson, all of Thunder Bay, Ont.; sister, Laurie Perreault of Sault Ste. Marie; brothers, Brian Perreault and wife, Virginia, of Edson, Alta., Clint Perreault of St. Helen’s, Ore., and Milton Perreault and wife, Angie, of Portland, Ore.; and father, Carl Perreault (Jake) and wife, Jane, of St. Helen’s, Ore.

She also will be missed by her grandson, Conner Johnson; granddaughters, Anna, Abigail, and Stevie Johnson; numerous nieces, nephews, and special friends, Esther Borg and Lee Hardy; as well as her adopted family, Cathy Creighton and her children, Sterling Meshake, Dakota Meshake, and Fawn Meshake.

She was predeceased by her mother, Doris Lorraine Perreault (née Bruyere) and other family caregivers too numerous to mention.

Jennifer’s favourite pastimes were doing arts and crafts, and attending dances, especially when her son, Steve and his wife, Christina, were the DJs. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren and sister, Laurie. When they were together, there was always good laughs all around.

She loved her job at Beendigan. It brought her a lot of joy working there and being able to help out other woman who had similar beginnings in Thunder Bay.

Her illness kept her from doing a lot these last few months, but she was able to see her granddaughter’s first couple of hockey practices, which she really enjoyed, and was proud of all her grandchildren, whom she spoke of fondly.

She also enjoyed attending Tuesday night arts and crafts at the Norwest Health Centre, where they really love her bannock.

She will be sadly missed and remembered by her family and all the people whose hearts she has touched.

A traditional wake was held Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. at the multi-use facility at Couchiching First Nation.

Funeral services will be held there Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 10 a.m.

The pallbearers will be Elton Bruyere, Randy Jones, and Blake Bruyere.

The honourary pallbearers will be Anna Johnson, Conner Johnson, Abigail Johnson, Stevie Johnson, Sterling Meshake, Dakota Meshake, and Fawn Meshake

A memorial service also will be held in Thunder Bay on Monday, April 9 at 7 p.m. at Kateri Church for friends who cannot make the trip to Couchiching.
