ANNE GLOWASKY

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Anne Glowasky (new Sawchuk), on Thursday, March 8, 2012 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.

Mom was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Glowasky; daughter, Carolyne Dawson; parents, Anastasia and Metro Sawchuk; brothers, George, Nick, John, Peter, and Harold Sawchuk; sisters, Estella Sparrow, Lillian Klyne, and Pauline Elson; and grandson, John Hildebrand.

Left to mourn are her son, George Glowasky (Diane nee Rivest); grandchildren, Kyle (Angela nee Fadden) and Travis Glowasky, Cynthia (Bill) Hildebrand, and Wendy Dawson and James Dawson; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Tatum Anne Glowasky, and David and Bill (Nicole) Hildebrand; and great-great-grandsons, John and Heath Hildebrand.

Mom was born Oct. 5, 1914 in Fort William, Ont. In 1916, she moved to Moose Jaw, Sask., where she was raised and educated. As a young woman, she worked in the Swift meat packing plant in Moose Jaw.

In 1934, she married Tony Glowasky in Sudbury, Ont., where they resided for two years. In 1936, she moved with her family to Geraldton, Ont. In 1945, she and Tony purchased the Shoprite Groceteria in Beardmore, Ont., where they operated the store until their retirement in 1975.

While in Beardmore, Anne was an active member of the hospital board and president of the local Legion Ladies’ Auxiliary Br. #148.

In 1976, after the death of her husband, she moved to Fort Frances. She joined St. George’s Orthodox Church, St. Anna’s Ukrainian Women’s Association, and the Fort Frances Horticultural Society.

For the past five years, she has resided at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances.

She loved to read, garden, fish, and travel, but most of all spend time with her family. She had a great love for life, and will be greatly and dearly missed by her family and those who knew her.

The family will hold a celebration of her life on Saturday, March 24, 2012 from 2-4 p.m. at Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances.
