Boston Pizza still unbeaten

With eight weeks of play now in the books in the Borderland indoor women’s soccer league, no team has yet to knock off first-place Boston Pizza.
Featuring members from the defending outdoor soccer league champs of the same name on the roster, Boston Pizza currently boasts a 7-0 record to top the standings with 21 points.

Their most recent triumph was a 6-2 victory over third-ranked Fit Lifestyles & Conditioning last night at the Fort High gym, with league-leading scorer Laureen Peters netting a hat trick.
Claire Hyatt, Tanya Hughes, and Ana Stopa also scored for the victors while Ashley Sisco and Allison Brown scored in a losing cause.
Sitting six points behind Boston Pizza is Peters Plumbing & Heating, which moved into second place with a 5-2 win last night over fourth-place Cater 2 U.
Jess Caul had a hat trick in that one, with Jaymee Fiset and Melanie Hyatt also scoring.
McKenna Begin notched both goals for Cater 2 U.
In the other game last night, sixth-place Leon’s Fort Frances earned its first win of the season with a 5-3 victory over Wright Physiotherapy, who currently occupy fifth place in the standings.
Lauren Parkinson and Kim Cousineau each scored twice for Leon’s, with Mary Waghorn adding the other goal.
Rebecca Selman and Nicole Renberg replied for Wright Physiotherapy.
League play resumes next Wednesday starting at 7 p.m.
