Ernest (Guy) John Calder Jr. passed away March 3, 2012.

Ernest was born in Fort Frances, Ontario on April 20, 1948 to the late Ernie and Eileen Calder.

With his family by his side, and after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with great sadness and sorrow that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and grandfather. He is survived and will be eternally missed by the love of his life, his wife of 19 years, Wendy Calder.

Also left to cherish his memory are daughters, Lisa Calder-Price (Tyler Hyatt), Vicki Blanchard (Curtis);

sons, Tyler Calder (Noranda Arnett) and Max Calder; brothers, Lawrence “Lonnie” (Laura), Kevin (Tammie); sisters, Lenore “Lennie” Adams (Dr. Michael Adams), Debbie Hebert (Rodney); grandchildren, Jayda Price, Isabel Price, Nicholas Stefanick (Tiffany Gibbons), Seth Hyatt, Landon Hyatt, Molly Cross-Blanchard, Abby Blanchard, Reece Blanchard and great-granddaughter, Abigail Stefanick-Gibbons; father and mother-in-law, Jim (Maxine) Inkster; brothers-in-law, Barry (Gracie) Inkster, David “Yaftey” (Cathy) Inkster, and Dale Inkster; sisters-in-law, Shelley (Robert) Toninato and Karilee “Chiney” Inkster;

and numerous nieces and nephews of whom he adored and cherished.

Ernie grew up an adventurous kid who travelled around town with his best friend, Mugsy, his dog.

He had fond memories of growing up in a house full of laughter, whose door was always open to family and friends. He carried those ideals on throughout his entire life. He was known as a prankster at Abitibi where he was employed for 32 years. He will always be remembered as the guy with the cool cars and fast motorcycles. He loved to attend the car shows and rarely walked away without a trophy for the cars he took such pride in showing.

He was an extraordinary Dad to Lisa, Vicki, Tyler and Max and taught them about values and morals and how to treat everyone with the same respect no matter where they came from—lessons that will surely be passed down to the generations to come.

Honourary pallbearers are his closest and dearest friends and family, Ed Kennedy, Brent Calder, Larry “Butch” Kielczewski, Terry “Killer” Kielczewski, Larry Janke, Jack Kendall, Jack McFayden, Gary Ogden, Rod Hebert, Dr. Michael Adams, Kevin Calder, Tyler Hyatt, Curtis Blanchard and John Cole.

A memorial will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion on March 9, 2012 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

A tribute will begin at 1:30 p.m., with luncheon to follow.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation, in memory of Ernest Calder, 610 University Ave., Toronto Ontario M5G 2M9, in support of Princess Margaret Lodge.

We watched you fade away. You suffered much in silence. You fought so hard to stay. You faced your task with courage. Your courage did not bend but still you kept on fighting until the very end. God saw you getting tired when a cure was not to be. He put His arms around you and whispered come with Me. So when we saw you sleeping

so peaceful and free from pain, we could not wish you back again.

We will always love you and miss you every day.
