William Elmer “Bill” Wasykowski, 80, of 851 Colonization Rd. W., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.

Bill was born Dec. 5, 1931 in Fort Frances to the late John and Nettie Wasykowski.

On Sept. 18, 1953, Bill was united in marriage to the former Donna Bolton. Following their marriage, they resided in Fort Frances and raised their two sons.

Friends and family always were very important to Bill, which was evident when you went to visit them at their home at the lake and later in Fort Frances.

Bill was employed as a millwright at the paper mill until his retirement in 1998.

He was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church and past member of the Vestry. He also enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing with family and friends.

Bill will be missed very much by his family and everyone who knew him. 

Bill is survived by his wife, Donna Wasykowski of Fort Frances, Ont.; two sons, John and wife, Joanne, of Newberry, Fla. and Robert and Wilma of Chatham, Ont.; and four grandchildren, John, Benjamin, Charmane Beth, and Ashley.

He also is survived by two sisters, Mazie and Cy Russell of Winnipeg, Man. and Nettie-Anne and Dennis Coleman of International Falls, Mn.; and many nieces and nephews.

Bill was predeceased by one daughter, Cheryl; one brother, John Joseph; and one sister, Jean Wall.

A memorial service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at 10 a.m. at St. John’s Anglican Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Wayne McIntosh officiating.

Interment will take place in Fort Frances Cemetery at a later date.

The honourary pallbearers will be Bill’s children and grandchildren.
