Mary Dorothea Fisher (nee Gadd), of Emo, Ont., passed away peacefully on Monday, May 2, 2011 at La Verendyre Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont. at the age of 94.

Mary was born Jan. 3, 1917 in Miscampbell Township, Ont. to Charles and Nellie Gadd.

She began working for MNR camps and at the McKenzie Hospital, where she was one of the nurses who looked after the Dance Township fire victims.

She was united in marriage to Russell Fisher on Oct. 25, 1943, and together they worked and raised their family on the Fisher family farm.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Gail (Keith) Paterson and son, Kenneth (Evelyn) Fisher, all of Emo, Ont.; grandchildren, Russell (Donna) Paterson, Patty (Randy) McNally, and Charlene Fisher; and great-grandchildren, Brandon Paterson and Paige McNally.

She also is survived by her siblings, Dorothy Caul, Bob (Shirley) Gadd, Victor (Lorraine) Gadd, and Dixie Crosman (Vern); and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Nellie Gadd; husband, Russell (2007); sisters, Lillian Rushton and Alice Hurley; and brothers, Frank Gadd and Clarence Gadd.

A graveside service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2011 at 1 p.m. at the Emo Cemetery in Emo, with Rev. Barb Miller officiating.
