It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of their loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Mildred Irene Johnson, who passed away peacefully at the age of 87 with her family by her side at the Dryden Regional Health Centre in Dryden, Ont.
Mildred married her one and only love, Harold Arnold Johnson, on April 27, 1940. Together they raised a family of seven children on their farm in Morson, Ont.
Mildred is survived by her children, Sid (Kathy) of Brandon, Man., Carolyn Halvorsen (Danny) of Kakabeka Falls, Ont., Curt (Lynda) of Dryden, Ont., Glenn of Prince George, B.C., Rob (Janine) of Dryden, Ont., Lori Robbins (Barry) of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Brenda Berard (Ed) of Spruce Grove, Alta.; 16 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
She also is survived by her sister, Evelyn Mancuso of Scarborough, Ont.
Mildred was predeceased by her husband, Harold in 1991; her parents, Sam and Nadine Nelson; brother, Floyd Nelson; and two infant children, one at birth and Randy at nine months.
Mildred’s whole life was devoted to her family. We all have special memories of times spent together.
She found great joy in gardening, canning, and weaving rugs. She also was a great cook and baker, especially her bread and buns.
A few summers were spent cooking at tourist camps in Morson.
She moved to Dryden 10 years ago to be closer to her family.
At Mom’s request, a private family service was held at Stevens Funeral Homes in Dryden.
Following cremation, interment of ashes will take place at a later date in the Bergland Cemetery in Bergland, Ont.
