Muskies fall to Sabres

The Muskie football team saw its season come to an end Friday afternoon as they were blanked 30-0 by the top-seeded Steinbach Sabres in the WHSFL’s Andy Currie ‘A’ Division quarter-finals at Canad Inns Stadium in Winnipeg.
Having finished the regular season with a 6-1 record, the Sabres used a number of different players to score points, with Mac Ginter-Boyce and Troy Wollman both finding the end zone for rushing touchdowns.

Shelby Koreker had a nine-yard touchdown reception, Jon Stoesz nailed a 20-yard field goal, and Derek Plett recovered a fumble to complete the scoring for the Sabres.
Friday’s loss left the black-and-gold with a final record of 3-5 for the season, which saw them earn their first victory at Fort High since Chad Canfield took over as head coach in 2010 (a 33-0 shutout of the Tec Voc Hornets back on Sept. 25).
The WHSFL semi-finals will continue Wednesday in Winnipeg, with Steinbach taking on the Sisler ‘A’ Spartans while the Kenora Broncos go up against the Neelin Spartans.
