Tickets for ‘Hope’ night now on sale

Tickets for the Canadian Cancer Society’s “Hope and the City” are on sale now at La Place Rendez-Vous, Fort Floral, and Bombshell.
The age-of-majority evening, set for Friday, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. at La Place Rendez-Vous, is billed as a fun, flirty, and fabulous event to benefit women’s cancer research.

Included in the $35 admission are hors d’oeuvres, a “swag bag,” and a stop at one of the glamour stations to have either their hair, make-up, or nails done, or even to be given a massage.
“It’s a play [on words], of course, based on the show, ‘Sex and the City,’” explained co-organizer Jennifer Anderson.
She noted while “Relay for Life” events support all cancer research, funds raised from the “Hope and the City” event will be earmarked specifically for women’s cancers, such as breast, cervical, ovarian, and uterine.
“And who doesn’t want to get dressed up and put on their dancing shoes?” she asked.
Besides the glamour stations, there will be plenty of other activities going on throughout the evening.
“We’re still planning and organizing so not everything is nailed down yet, but we’ve got plenty of ideas and hope it will be a great event,” Anderson enthused.
There also will be an exciting grand prize to be won—a trip for two to New York City.
The evening will include a luminary ceremony in honour or memory of women who have had cancer, using pink glowsticks instead of the luminary bags.
“We hope everyone comes out and enjoys a ladies’ night out while supporting a very important cause,” Anderson said.
