Forest fires dwindling

Minimal fire activity for the region is expected over the next week.
There now are only eight active fires in the region, all of which are listed as “being monitored.”
In related news, the Northwest Forest Fire Information Hotline (1-888-258-8842) has been deactivated due to the minimal forest fire activity in the region.
It will be reactivated in the spring.
However, the Forest Fire Reporting Hotline—310-FIRE (3473)—remains active and ready to receive reports of forest fires from the public.

Dreary fall weather continues to dampen the fire situation in the Northwest Region, with more and more blazes being declared “out” this week.
The Ministry of Natural Resources reported there has not been a new confirmed forest fire since Monday, when Nipigon District recorded a new small fire in the far north that is being monitored.
