Trio of teams tied for top spot

With the second week of play in the Borderland Women’s Indoor Soccer League in the books, the top teams in the six-club loop are starting to be known.
In the first game yesterday evening at the Fort High gym, Team Red improved to 2-0 with a 6-2 triumph over Team White.

Jess Caul led the way with a hat trick.
Melaine Hyatt scored twice for Team Red, with Hailey Beaudry adding a single.
Tara McEachern netted both goals for Team White, who dropped to 0-2.
The second game saw Team Purple double Team Pink 4-2, sparked by Sydney Radigan’s hat trick.
Anne Jean had the other goal while Christina Everton and Mandy Armstrong replied for Team Pink.
And in the final game of the evening, Team Black bombed Team Blue 10-0, with Amy Wilson-Hands, Edith McCormick, Laureen Peters, and Claire Hyatt combining for the shutout.
Peters and Tanya Hughes led the way up front with five and four goals, respectively, with Hyatt adding a single.
Both Team Purple and Team Black also improved to 2-0 with the wins.
League play is set to resume next Wednesday at 7 p.m., with Team Blue playing Team White, Team Purple facing Team Black, and then Team Pink squaring off against Team Red.
