Fire hazard now ‘low’

With the forest fire season winding down, and snow and rain having swept through the region, the fire hazard has been knocked down to “low” with little opportunity to rebound, the Ministry of Natural Resources reported yesterday.
No new fires have been confirmed in the Northwest Region since Oct. 3.

There remain 21 active fires in the region, including three prescribed burns and 18 monitored fires.
None of these active fires currently threatening people or property.
There have been 664 confirmed fires in the Northwest Region to date, charring 98,939.2 hectares in total.
