Annual ‘Tree of Life’ campaign set to go

The Riverside Foundation for Health Care’s “Together We Can” campaign and Shoppers Drug Mart are partnering in an effort to raise funds in support of women’s whole health in Rainy River District through the 11th-annual “Tree of Life” campaign.
The four-week fundraising campaign—running from Sept. 29-Oct. 26 at more than 1,200 Shoppers Drug Mart stores—will harvest essential funding to directly support bringing digital mammography to Rainy River District.

“Community fundraising initiatives allow us to provide women with the resources they need to improve their health in mind, body, and spirit,” said Foundation director Nicke Baird.
“From Sept. 29 through Oct. 26, we encourage everyone to get involved in women’s health and support the ‘Together We Can’ campaign directly through Shoppers Drug Mart’s ‘Tree of Life’ fundraising campaign,” she added.
Each fall, the campaign provides customers with the opportunity to purchase and personalize a “Tree of Life” icon, which are prominently displayed on the “Tree of Life” in all participating stores.
Make a difference and support women in communities across Canada by visiting any local participating Shoppers Drug Mart store and purchase a “leaf” for a loonie, a “butterfly” for $5, an “acorn” for $10, or a “cardinal” for $50.
“To achieve our goal of improving women’s health in Rainy River District, it takes the commitment of our whole community and we thank Shoppers Drug Mart, their employees, and customers for coming together and supporting us through the 2012 ‘Tree of Life’ campaign,” said Baird.
“The community has generously answered our call every year during our annual ‘Tree of Life’ fundraising campaign,” said Kevin Nielson, pharmacist/owner of the Shoppers Drug Mart in Fort Frances.
“We are proud to continue our commitment to local women’s health initiatives though our continued support of the ‘Together We Can’ campaign.
“I encourage all of our patients, customers, and local businesses to purchase a leaf, butterfly, acorn, or cardinal when visiting our store and help make this our most successful ‘Tree of Life’ campaign to date,” he added.
