Bus driver heading to Big Apple

WINNIPEG—A Winnipeg bus driver who gave a barefoot man his shoes is getting to tell his story on U.S. network TV.
Kris Doubledee will appear live on the CBS This Morning show in New York City tomorrow to talk about his act of kindness that shocked a bus full of passengers and has inspired so many in the city and beyond.

Doubledee was driving near the corner of Portage and Main on Tuesday morning when he suddenly stopped the bus, got off, removed his shoes, and gave them to a homeless man.
News of the selfless act has spread through local and social media, and now the international press is taking notice.
Doubledee said yesterday he’s surprised by all the attention he has generated, and hopes it spurs others to do likewise.
Winnipeg Mayor Sam Katz also will appear on the show.
Doubledee has never been to New York before.
“It’s been on my bucket list,” he noted.
“I have the weekend off, so I’m good to go.”
