Parents invited to presentation about literacy

Students, parents, and family members are invited to attend a presentation by Métis author David Bouchard tomorrow evening at J.W. Walker School.
Presented by the Rainy River District School Board Parent Involvement Committee, Bouchard will offer up an inspirational and motivational presentation on the power of literacy and joy of reading.

A former teacher and school principal, David Bouchard shares his life stories about literacy, captivating audiences every time he speaks.
He has presented to hundreds of thousands of educators, parents and students and has written more than 50 books.
Proud of his Métis heritage, he is a former president of the Métis Nation of Greater Victoria and continues to serve as a community leader.
Bouchard uses Native flutes, storytelling and his award-winning books, to direct children to the source of the best stories—their grandparents, their teachers and books.
“Television entertains—it does not enrich lives,” he has expressed. “Stories and books entertain and teach valuable life lessons. In addition, they require listeners and readers to use our imaginations. This makes us all smarter.”
The presentation at J.W. Walker School will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Bouchard will also be visiting schools throughout the district this week, and has already stopped at Riverview, Donald Young, Crossroads, and Robert Moore Schools yesterday and today.
He is set to visit Mine Centre School and North Star Community School tomorrow and Thursday.
