Muskie golfers improving

After putting things together at the last minute to start the NorWOSSA golf season a week prior in Dryden, the Fort High golf team have started to get into the swing of things.
A five-man team took to the nine-hole Little Falls Golf Course in Atikokan on Tuesday, where Brandon Sinclair and James Brown led the way for the black-and-gold with rounds of 83, which put them five strokes behind a three-way tie for first place.

“That was Brandon’s first time back out since he had knee surgery, and while he wasn’t too happy with his score, I thought he did quite well considering that he hadn’t played in about a month,” coach Brian Johnstone explained.
“James had a good opening nine holes before he stumbled a little bit on the back nine, but all in all it was another pretty good score from him,” he added.
The next lowest score by a Fort High golfer was a round of 94 by Abe Germain, with Brandon McGinnis and Brady VanUden also taking part in the tournament.
Cam Zapitelli, Adam Geston, and Trey Palermo of Dryden finished in a tie for first place with rounds of 78.
The Muskies are now preparing for the third and final event of the NorWOSSA season on Monday, which will be held at the nine-hole Sioux Lookout Golf and Curling Club.
“It’s been a little while since I played it myself, but I recall that there is one very challenging par three hole there,” Johnstone recalled.
“That tournament will also be the qualfier for NWOSSA, so there will be a little bit of pressure on the guys if they want to go to Kenora on the 27th.
“But I think things are headed in the right direction,” he stressed.
