LEO FEDORCHUK

Leo Fedorchuk, 78, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at his residence Tuesday, Sept. 21, 1999.

He was born July 18, 1921 in Arbakka, Man. to the late Paul and Daria Fedorchuk. During World War II, Leo served with the Royal Canadian Navy in the North Atlantic.

Following his discharge from the services, he returned to Fort Frances, where he worked as an electrical contractor, and owned and operated Veteran Electric for the past 45 years.

In Leo’s former years, he was very active and had belonged to the curling club, sportsmen’s club, and flying club. Throughout his life, he also loved to fish and hunt.

Leo also was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 29, the Elks Club, and the Conservation Club in Fort Frances.

He was predeceased by one sister, Mary; and three brothers, Michael, William, and Peter.

Leo is survived by his brother, Alex Fedorchuk of Fort Frances, Ont.; three nieces, Darya Fedorchuk of Fort Frances, Ont., Patricia and husband, Lynn Maurer, of Phoenix, Az., and Ainsley Brinkman of Kenora, Ont.; three great-nieces, Jody and husband, Duane Lamoureux, and Lori Brinkman, all of Winnipeg, Man., and Julia Brinkman of Kenora, Ont.; and one great-nephew, Gerald Brinkman of Ottawa, Ont.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999 at 11 a.m. at the Knox United Church in Fort Frances. Rev. Patrick Playfair officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
