Toddler found safe

Just after 3 p.m. yesterday, Rainy River District OPP officers received a call from a parent on the 1000 block of Scott Street in Fort Frances reporting that a three-year-old male had left the backyard after maneuvering his way through a locked fence.
The caller had made an initial search of the area, but was unsure which direction the child went and called police for help.

Officers responding to the area, including the K-9 unit, communicated with each other over the radio and each took a different route to look for the child.
Within three minutes of receiving the call, an officer located the toddler safe and sound playing in the sandbox at the Lions’ Park on Second Street East.
He subsequently was reunited with his parent.
