More blood donors needed
Friday, 3 August 2012 - 1:43pm
The clinic is being held at Fort Frances High School on Monday, Aug. 13 from 4:30-8:30 p.m. and again on Tuesday, Aug. 14 from noon-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.
Fifty-six blood donor appointment slots are still open for the Monday and 139 on the Tuesday.
Make an appointment to donate blood by booking online at www.blood.ca or calling 1-888-2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
CBS asks that donors consider bringing a friend or family member to donate with them.
According to CBS, every minute of every day, someone in Canada needs blood. And, in most cases, blood from more than just one donor.
That’s why this summer, CBS is asking communities across the country, including those in the Fort Frances area, to “Rally Together to Save Lives” as a way to show that, collectively, blood donations will make a positive impact on someone’s life.
The need for blood is significant as it takes many donors to help save a life. For example, someone in a car accident requires blood and blood products from up to 50 donors.
Leukemia patients may need up to eight blood donors weekly for their treatment.
Making a blood donation this summer helps ensure an adequate supply for hospital patients in need.
