EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Anishinaabeg of Kabapikotawangag Resource Council is devoted to the development, growth and prosperity of the fi ve member First Nations in the Lake of the Woods area. The Resource Council is seeking a highly motivated
individual for the contract position of:
FINANCE ADVISOR/BOOKKEEPER
Duties & Responsibilities:
• To provide advice on the fi nancial requirements of each First Nation and
the Resource Council:
- Including advice on the establishment and maintenance of
appropriate fi nancial records;
- The development of sound accounting and payroll procedures;
- The preparation and provision of all required fi nancial information,
fi nancial statements and budgets as required;
- The establishment of a monitoring and reporting system;
- The presentation of required reports, proposals, and fi nancial
information.
• Responsible for any other duties assigned by the Director of Operations
to whom he or she will report.
• Ability to draft correspondence with follow-ups with vendors, maintain
accounting fi ling system, data entry, prepare and draft annual
submissions to AANDC
• Prepare quarterly reports and up-to-date fi nances to the Governing
Board of Chiefs
• Work with senior management on budget planning and spending
throughout the fi scal year
Desired Qualifi cations:
• Must be a team player
• Minimum of four years related studies in college/university
• Extensive experience in fi nancial management and accounting
principles / designation (CA, CMA, CGA or CAFM)
• Must have a minimum of fi ve (5) years of direct experience
• Knowledge of accounting software programs e.g.: AccPac, Adagio,
Client Strategist…
• Thorough knowledge of AANDC funding and reporting requirements
• Excellent communication skills including ability to work with tact and
discretion
• Experience working with First Nations
• Knowledge of Ojibway culture, tradition and language
• Travel required to First Nation communities – valid driver’s license and
own vehicle
