Faragher off to Penguins’ camp
Friday, 6 July 2012 - 1:15pm
Faragher, coming off his freshman season with the St. Cloud State Huskies, is one of three goalies who will be at the camp.
He will be joined by recent Penguins’ draft picks Sean Maguire of the Powell River Kings (BCHL) and Matt Murray of the Soo Greyhounds (OHL).
Other top prospects at the camp will include the Penguins’ two first-round selections at last month’s NHL draft—defencemen Derrick Pouliot (Portland Winterhawks) and Olli Maatta (London Knights).
Faragher is the second Fort Frances player to take part in a NHL team’s development camp during the off-season.
Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs’ sophomore forward Joe Basaraba was at the Florida Panthers’ camp this week.
Basaraba, the Panthers’ third-round choice in the 2010 NHL draft, concluded his week in the Sunshine state with a goal in Team White’s 5-3 victory during the final scrimmage this morning.
Among those also taking part in the camp were defenceman Michael Matheson, the team’s first-round choice in June’s draft, and highly-touted forward prospect Jonathan Huberdeau, who many expect to play with the Panthers this coming season.
