Parade, window contest winners announced

The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the winners of the 2012 Canada Day window display contest.
There were so many wonderful entries the judges had a hard time picking just three!

Judging took place Friday, June 29, and the winning businesses were treated to coffee yesterday (July 3).
The Diamond Jubilee Award (most royal window) was awarded to Northwoods Gallery and Gifts for their eye catching and brain teasing window; the Canadian Crown (Most Canadian Window) was given to Taggs Source for Sports, who proudly displayed their Canadian spirit with a vibrant and creative window; and the winner of the Jester Hat (Funniest Window) was the Makabi Inn, for their portrayal of Queen Elizabeth II with Canadian wildlife.
The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce would like to thank all of the participants of this year’s window display!
All of the entries were spectacular, it was wonderful to see so much Canadian pride on our streets!

The Chamber would also like to thank everyone involved in this year’s Canada Day parade!
The participants who volunteered their time and energy were vital in creating a vibrant, colourful, and patriotic display! Thank you so much!
We would also like to thank our sponsors, Gillons’ Insurance, Simplicity–Professional Hair and Body Care, and Badiuk Equipment who made this parade and the awards for outstanding floats possible.
The theme for this year’s parade was celebrating the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, and there were lots of royal elements.
The floats were exciting and diverse, from entirely royal to entirely Canadian, and everything in between.
The award winning floats this year were: The Town of Fort Frances (Best Royal Float), Bill Whiting (Best Overall Float), and the Special Olympics (Best Canadian Float).
Thank you again to everyone involved in this year’s parade, the participants, the volunteers, and the audience, who lined Front Street with their smiling faces.
You made this year’s Canada Day Parade wonderful!
