Strong arms needed for July 2nd tug-of-war

Fort Frances needs strong men and women to defend Canada’s honour in this year’s “Pulling for Peace” international tug-of-war.
This year, “Pulling for Peace” coincides with the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812.

Our border is now peaceful—the most peaceful and longest undefended border in the world.
While we enjoy the peace we share with our American neighbours, we also enjoy a little friendly competition. And on an anniversary as significant as this, winning becomes a matter of national pride!
We are the reigning tug-of-war champs, and look forward to extending our victory another year.
If you are interested in participating in this year’s “Power Pull,” call Mike Gurski at 274-5498.
After all the action, and a winner is declared, there will be a hotdog/hamburger barbecue provided by the local Kiwanis Club available for just a donation, with proceeds going to charity.
So come out and cheer on your team to victory!
Enjoy a fun-filled afternoon with your family and community—the defending champs of “Pulling for Peace!”
Singers needed
Meanwhile, the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce and 93.1 The Border still are looking for competitors for this year’s “Quest for the Best” singing competition.
This event will be held Thursday, July 26 in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship.
This annual event features local talent competing for a chance to win $1,500.
The Chamber has secured more sponsorships—and the prize money is incredible!
The total prize money available to be won is more than $3,000! All singers/musicians should enter!
The format of the competition will be similar to last year’s, with two rounds and then a final battle for the grand prize.
Last year’s thrilling conclusion is soon to be beat!
If you are interested in competing in this year’s “Quest for the Best,” registration forms are available at the Chamber of Commerce office on Scott Street or online at www.fortfranceschamber.com
The entry fee is $25 for solo acts and $35 for duets, with only the first 20 entries being accepted.
The deadline for entries is tomorrow (June 22).
