This is a brief reminder that the closing date for the “Aging At Home” survey is this Friday (June 22).
A big “thank you” to those who either have completed the online survey at www.ffsalt.com or a paper copy, and an extra big “thank you” to those who have promoted the survey to people you know.
The committee’s advertising budget has been limited so the one-on-one, or the circulation of e-mails, seems to have gotten the best results.
Every completed survey is important.
A good response is coming in from the 45-64 age group, but more would be awesome. It gives the committee a snapshot of the expectations and plans of this age group for when they reach 65—a 20-year projection.
The bulge of “baby boomers” reaching age 65 is yet to come. There also is a growing number of people reaching the “Century Club” while health-care dollars are shrinking.
These realities are true, not only for our district but for all communities across Canada.
We need to be innovative to plan and care for one another.

The Northwest Business Centre is excited to offer Fort Frances’ first-annual “BizKid$ Camp” this summer, which introduces youths aged nine-12 to the values, attitudes, qualities, and skills needed to become an entrepreneur.
It presently is scheduled to run July 23-27, and includes a fun-filled learning environment.
The NBC is in need of more business sponsors willing to donate to this important program. There is a small budget shortfall at the moment.
The organization also is looking for youths who are interested in attending this year camp.
Any questions about the “BizKid$ Camp,” or the Northwest Business Centre, can be directed to Diane Schwartz-Williams at 1-807-467-4643 or via e-mail at diane@nwbiz.ca
