RRFDC welcomes new faces

The board of directors of the Rainy River Future Development Corp. will welcome two new faces and see another director return for another term following Tuesday’s annual general meeting in Emo.
Jim Belluz and Deb Cornell were elected to the board for the next three years, as was George Emes, who had just wrapped up a three-year term as chairman.

Seven names were brought forward to fill the three vacancies on the board, with the membership electing the above.
The trio will join Russ Fortier, Ken McKinnon, Gord Armstrong, Martin Dufresne, Tony Marinaro, and Jan Beazley on the board (their terms were not up this year).
The board will appoint its new executive at its July meeting.
About 25 people attended the meeting, which also included FedNor community economic development officer Pam Bryson saying a few words about the RRFDC and its hard work over the past few years;
Emes gave special thanks to Freeda Carmody and Tara Rajala, who did not return to the board this year.
A gift of appreciation was given to both for their years of service.
As well, Jeff Busniuk, with the accounting firm Viherjoki, Busniuk and Kelly, presented a brief review of the RRFDC’s audited financial statements to the membership.
RRFDC economic developer Geoff Gillon then gave an overview of activities.
