Mini-king, queen contest now taking registrations

A mini-king and mini-queen contest will be held here on Wednesday, June 27, but parents who want to enter their children will have to act fast.
Organizer Melissa Gushulak said yesterday that due to a limited number of sponsors, only a maximum of eight boys and eight girls can register this year, so it’s a first-come, first-served basis.

The event is open to boys and girls aged four-seven as of July 1.
The entry fee is $5 per child, with the money going back into prizes for the event.
The first eight who pay in each group will be accepted, noted Gushulak, adding she cannot hold any spots.
For more info or to register, call her at 270-4875 (if she’s not home, leave a message on her voicemail and she’ll get back to you).
An exact time and location for the contest still is being confirmed.
It tentatively is scheduled for 11 a.m. in front of the Fort Frances Museum.
Gushulak will only be asking them questions at the event, upon which they will be judged.
The newly-crowned mini-king and queen will be asked to participate in the Canada Day parade.
Gushulak also will let this year’s winners decide if they would like to be in the Fourth of July 4 parade over in International Falls.
