Upsetting sight
Wednesday, 13 June 2012 - 12:57pm
The very sight of this upset me enough that I turned my car around and went back to the Boston Pizza parking lot and asked to speak to one of these girls.
I had expressed my concern for her and the other young lady that were exposing themselves, and that it was not appropriate and that it didn’t look very nice for them.
At first, this young lady started to get offended. But as she listened, I explained to her that she actually was unknowingly putting herself in harm’s way by presenting herself in such a manner—and only creating a bad position for her while she was being ogled by male passers-by.
I told her that she was very beautiful and that she never needs to show her body to get what she wanted in life. I explained to her that this very act was, indeed, bringing shame to herself and asked for her to put a shirt on.
I then went to Lowey’s and made mention of this very thing, and asked a woman that I knew to stop there on her way back and express the same concern.
The people I spoke to at Lowey’s felt the same way as I did.
When I returned to town, I was pleased to not see the girls standing out there.
To whoever let these young women present themselves in this manner, shame on you. You put the community’s daughters in a very bad position.
Those girls did not have to stand on the side of the road dressed in such a manner as to potentially cause an incident.
The people of Northwestern Ontario are the most generous persons I have ever met. Fundraising always reaches amazing amounts of money, as has been witnessed over and over again.
There was no need to exploit these young girls to raise funds because the citizens of Fort Frances always pull through.
In all sincerity,

Dear editor:
I witnessed one of the most horrific crimes against our very own children this past Saturday afternoon.

UPSETTING SIGHT
Television has propagated the 'whore' mentality and exploitation of women is at an all time high - it is definitely disgusting to see how young girls in this day and age dress and Fort Frances is no exception - it is time for the female gender to get some sense of self pride and realize that there is no way they are ever going to be sexually liberated, we still live very much in a double standard world and that is never going to change - a sexually promiscuos man is still a man, a sexually promiscuous girl will always be thought of as a slut - girls take back your dignity - thank you for bringing this issue to print!
An effective example of
An effective example of marketing and by no means a "horrific crime" of seeing someone dressed wearing a bra and shorts. Horrific would be to see the author dressed in the same clothing waving a sign. Never been to the beach? Get a life.
As a parent I feel that you
As a parent I feel that you had no right to stop and voice "YOUR" opinions to these ladies. I indeed find your actions to be a form of intimidation/bullying. I also saw these women and thought nothing of how they were dressed as I know one of these ladies and she is a very intellegent and confident young women. They were hosting a car wash and were dressed for that.

Exposing themselves? Are you serious? I've seen more skin by a breastfeeding Mom in public than what these young ladies were doing. I too saw these young women and would hardly go as far as you did in describing them. You come off sounding like a jealous shrew, not a concerned citizen. Men "ogle" women dressed in jeans and t-shirts so your argument there is moot.
Let's not forget, the "law" in Ontario is that women can go topless so perhaps you should be thankful that they were dressed at all. Furthermore, just because some women choose to wear more revealing clothing than others, does NOT give anyone the right to judge them/ogle them/ or prey on them. If there had been an "incident", would you then blame them b/c they weren't dressed to your standards??????
Dear Johanna PLEASE stay
Dear Johanna PLEASE stay away from pithers point park this summer as there are young ladies in bikini's there as well and keep your opinions to yourself!!!!!!
