Canadian Blood Services is still looking for more people to donate blood at its fall clinic, which will be held at Fort High on Sept. 8-9.
“At this point, there are 41 open appointments to fill which is great,” said CBS spokesperson Harvey Heather. “If we can fill these, we have the potential to assist up to 900 patients when we reach our target of approximately 300 donations (units) of blood.

“If you haven’t already made an appointment, call 1 -888-2-DONATE (1 888 236 6283) now, and please encourage friends, family and others to call now as well,” he added.
The clinic will run from 4:30-8:30 p.m. next Wednesday (Sept. 8) and from noon-3 p.m. and then 5-8 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 9).
Each week Canadian Blood Services supplies approximately 1,200 units of blood for patients in 90 Manitoba and northwestern Ontario hospitals including Riverside Health Care Facilities and other area hospitals.
These units of blood will be used to assist patients requiring surgery, transplants, cancer and other treatments.

•Cancer patients may require up to eight units of platelets each week.
