HST to be discussed in online town hall

“The problem is so many people are not aware that this is even happening,” said Hampton.
“Both levels of government have rushed it through after making a backroom deal to blend the two taxes and increase the cost of living significantly in a region that is already struggling after years of being ignore by both levels of government,” he charged.
They hope to combat that lack of awareness by taking questions on the new tax, and pointing out what can be done to fight it, during the online session.

Kenora-Rainy River MPP Howard Hampton and Thunder Bay-Rainy River MP John Rafferty will be teaming up this Friday (March 12) to host an online “town hall” to discuss the proposed Harmonized Sales Tax (HST).
Over the past few months, both Hampton and Rafferty have spent a great deal of time working to raise awareness of the proposed tax and its potential impact in Northwestern
