Pair want answers about clinic

Local residents Allan Bedard and Bill Krukoski will appear before town council tonight in search of answers about the Fort Frances Community Clinic.
The pair are seeking answers to such questions as what the roles of Fort Frances Community Clinic and the Nelson Medical Professional Corp. are, how clinic assets and costs have been divided between the two, and what is being done to recruit new doctors here, among others.

Council also will hear a presentation from Meghan Haehn, Public Sector Accounting Board co-ordinator for the Town of Fort Frances, regarding a PSAB project update.
The public portion of tonight’s meeting is scheduled to start at 6:50 p.m. and run until 8:30 p.m.
The committee of whole will convene first at 5:30 p.m., but be in-camera until 6:50.
Other business on tonight’s agenda will include:
•a Trillium Foundation application for Sunny Cove Camp repairs;
•a renewal of lease agreement at the Fort Frances Airport;
•a report regarding the future status of the east sidewalk along 700 and 900 blocks of Portage Avenue;
•a geospatial data-sharing agreement;
•a report on uncollectable accounts receivable;
•a report on a change to a financial request from the Fort Frances Lakers;
•Minutes of Settlement for 420 Mowat Ave.;
•travel expense and per diem claims for Couns. John Albanese, Andrew Hallikas, Ken Perry, Paul Ryan, and Rick Wiedenhoeft;
•a report on council remuneration—1/3 deemed expenses;
•a report on the provincial uploading of social services;
•a financial request dated Jan. 9, 2010 from Safe Communities Rainy River District re: 2009-10 per capita funding;
•a financial request dated Jan. 20, 2010 from the Tim Nordin re: competition expenses for the 2010 Dominion of Canada Northern Ontario Men’s Provincial Championship (Feb. 7-14);
•a financial request dated Jan. 26, 2010 from the Rainy River District Social Services Administration Board re: a new tenants welcome package;
•a financial request received Feb. 1, 2010 from Rainy River District Music Festival Association re: 70th Festival of the Performing Arts—April 2010.
•a financial request received Feb. 1, 2010 from Community Broadcasting Services re: March Break child safety program ads.
•a report on establishing water and sewer rates for 2010, and a corresponding bylaw to impose water and sewer user fees in 2010 (as reported last week, if the bylaw is passed, residents will see a two percent rate hike while ICI will go up 17 percent);
•a bylaw for the purpose of fixing remuneration and benefits for elected officials;
•a bylaw to authorize the execution of a letter of understanding with CUPE;
•a bylaw to authorize a license agreement for purposes of utilization of the town’s geospatial data with Hynde Paul Planners;
•a bylaw to authorize a lease with respect to certain municipal property at 501 Sixth St. W.;
•a bylaw to authorize an agreement with Tom Veert Contracting Ltd. granting conditional extension into 2010 of terms of tender 09-OF-02 (reconstruction of Scott Street from Reid Avenue to Colonization Road East);
•a bylaw to approve an agreement with iCompass Technologies Inc. for CivicWeb web-hosted application services;
•a request for support from the Northwestern Ontario Municipal Association re: an energy resolution; and
•a break-open ticket licence application from the Riverside Foundation for Health Care at La Verendrye Hospital (lobby) from Feb. 10-Aug. 9, 2010.
