Locals run in Manitoba Marathon

Meanwhile, the half-marathon drew 13 local runners.
Mitch Green of Fort Frances topped the contingent with a time of 1:43:17, followed by Sean Wiersema of Fort Frances (1:45:12), Dan Loney of Emo (1:46:11), Nicole Rogozinski of Fort Frances (1:54:03), Dan Brunetta of Fort Frances (1:54:16), Ashleigh Dutton of Fort Frances (1:57:31), Marty Emond of Devlin (1:57:37), Lonna Oster of Fort Frances (2:11:54), and Rylee Broman of Fort Frances (2:13:43).
Rounding out the local group were Lorina Fryer of Fort Frances (2:17:14), Shaun Loney of Emo (2:21:35), and Michael and Kerry Canfield of Fort Frances (2:25:24).
Hillary Cheruiyot of Kenya won the men’s division of the full marathon with a time of 2:27:29. Cindy Sondag of Grand Forks, N.D. took the women’s title in the full marathon with a time of 3:12:09.
Desire Budigoma of Winnipeg won his second-straight title in the men’s half-marathon with a time of 1:14:19 while the women’s half-marathon winner was Gina Tessmann, also of Winnipeg, in a time of 1:26:27.

A large contingent of district runners were among the 13,190 participants in the 31st-annual Manitoba Marathon in Winnipeg on Sunday.
Tanner Kaemingh of Fort Frances ran the full marathon in a time of 4:34:11 while Mandy Heyens of Rainy River also competed in a time of 4:25:45.
