U.K.’s Prince Harry says pilot training is tough

LONDON — Prince Harry says he sometimes doubted his ability to become a pilot, thinking he was not cut out for the job.
His comments come in an interview released to Britain’s Press Association news agency.

Harry gave the interview in New York, at the end of his first official visit to the United States.
He said the trip to New York was a nice break from training.
The 24-year-old prince is training to be a pilot with the Army Air Corps.
But he said he found some of the courses tough.
“There’s times when I thought, you know, I’m really not cut out for this, mentally. I hope I’ve got the physical skills to fly a helicopter,” he said. “But mentally, there are the exams and everything. I mean, I can’t do maths, I gave that up when I left school, as anyone does at that age. But I’ve been throwing myself back in the deep end.”
During his New York trip, Harry played in a charity polo game and paid a visit to the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attack.
Harry, the son of Prince Charles and the late Diana, Princess of Wales, is third in line to the British throne, after his father and his older brother, William.
