It also is known the woman’s 19-year-old son was in police custody last night, but no charges had been laid as of press time.
The woman’s husband stayed with family members here last night as the home at 707 Third St. W. remained surrounded by police tape.

You guys should really let
You guys should really let people grieve rather then putting things in the paper the day the woman passes on including her address, can anybody have privacy in this town. Im sure this isnt easy for her family including her son. Also, they didnt know she had passed until early that morning so if her son was in custody the night before it obviously has nothing to do with the other. But everyone in this town makes assumptions anyways so I guess it doesnt make a difference what I say. But really let people grieve. Give the man and his family a break. Let the police do their job.
I agree
I can understand reporting the news and the facts as to the basics about the case, but I agree with the previous comment. Why post the address? Has the remaining family not been through enough already without having every busy-body in town.. and we know there are quite a few, just like anywhere else, driving by and stareing, as if they were going to see anything anyways? My inital response to seeing the complete address was one of distain. My second reponse was that the paper was less then professional by posting it.
Of course, my condolances go out to the family. There is nothing more I can say that will ease their pain.
Sadly, Fort Frances has managed to beat Toronto with regards to the first possible homicide of 2009. Not a title we will bare with honour. We have had too many deaths of such a nature lately.
It sadens me. Both for this family, for Andrews family, but also for the community as a whole. What the hel is going on?
The News is The News
Uhmm... Facts are facts. If the newspaper didn't report on it then others would complain. Maybe there was a reason for the address being published. Maybe it was requested by the police seeking more information. Maybe it would spark someone's memory so that they would come forward with info to help this case come and go as all others do. There is a reason for everything.
..and simply posting it as
..and simply posting it as "...the 700 block of Third st west" would not have sufficed?
and I jumped the gun when I refered to it as a homocide, as the report has not been released yet. I apologize for that.
And with all due respect, 'There is a reason for everything.' ok, that is often true, but that is also a cop out. Kind of like blindly following whatever big brother tells us, because they say something is good for you.. the government, ect, would never lie to us, right?
I am sure that there was no malice intended by anyone when the addy was posted. If there was in fact a reason for it, then fine. If not, then those of us that found that to be distasteful have the opportunity to air our view. Letting them know gives the paper the opportunity to be sensative to its audience, and that is important marketing info for them.
Now, back to the article. Does anyone know how the husband/father is coping? Should the community be considering some type of benefit to help cover any expenses that will be coming their way? Not just the obvious expenses, but are there other kids that dad may have to stay home with? I have only been here for a few years, so I don't know this family...
Things like that should be in the article before the physical address of the home...
IMHO
