Community Christmas party set for Dec. 7

A potluck supper then will be served at 5 p.m. so be sure to bring along your favourite dish.
This is an excellent way for high school students to earn some community service hours needed for graduation. Students are needed to help with the kiddies’ corner, clean-up, and general assistance.

The cemetery committee once again will be making ice candles this Christmas, which are available for purchase by contacting either the township office (486-3452) or Maxine Hayes (274-6049).
The ice candles cost $5 each, with all proceeds going to improve the cemeteries.
The deadline for orders placed with the municipal office is Monday, Dec. 15 and candles must be picked up by noon on Tuesday, Dec. 23.

Orders also are being taken for the second La Vallee history book, “Further Connections.”
The cost is $50 (make cheques payable to the Township of La Vallee).
To place an order, call Freeda Carmody, Liz Donaldson, Maxine Hayes, or Joyce Witherspoon.

Crossroads School will hold its next council meeting Wednesday, Dec. 3 at 6 p.m. Snacks will be provided.
A reminder the Crossroads School Christmas concert will take place Dec. 16, with the last day of school before the Christmas holidays being Dec. 19.

Cards played at the Devlin Hall last week saw the high going to Gerald and Lorraine Bullied, with Ernie Tibold and Sylvia Beadle taking the low.
The next card party there is slated for Tuesday, Dec. 2 starting at 7 p.m.

Last week’s cribbage games at the Emo Legion were won by Lois LaBelle and Donna Sheppard, with the low going to Darlene Bruce and Agnes Waldeck.
Gayle Thompson won the draw.

The Township of La Vallee once again is hosting its annual community Christmas party and fun day.
This year’s event is planned for Sunday, Dec. 7 starting at 2 p.m. at the Devlin Hall. People are encouraged to bring their sleds, cards, and games for an afternoon of fun.
