Leafs win in Warroad
Wednesday, 19 November 2008 - 2:45pm
The host Warriors closed the deficit to one late in the period, then pressed for the tie with their goalie pulled, but the Leafs’ defence and netminder Dana Cridland held on to preserve the victory.
“The girls had the opportunity to play on Olympic-size ice,” Leafs’ coach Scott Clendenning wrote in an e-mail to the Times. “A few adjustments were needed, but the Leafs came out and played strong two-way hockey.”
The Leafs, who improved to 4-2-1 with the win, were across the river in International Falls yesterday evening to face the Broncos’ junior varsity team (the outcome was unavailable by press time).

The Fort Frances Leafs, the local U14 girls’ hockey rep team, took a trip to Warroad, Mn. on Friday to face some stiffer competition from south of the border.
The Leafs played a tight defensive game, taking a 2-0 lead into the third period on goals by Monica Woods and Taylor Dixon.
