Flyers back in business
Wednesday, 19 November 2008 - 2:43pm
Sioux Lookout was scheduled to travel to Dryden tonight to face the Ice Dogs and then will return home to host Schreiber on Saturday and Sunday.
The SIJHL had postponed Sioux Lookout’s game last Wednesday against the Fort William North Stars, as well as its two-game series against the Thunder Bay Bearcats scheduled for last Thursday and Friday.
The team now is looking to hire a coach to replace Miller.
“On behalf of the SIJHL, I am extremely proud to offer league congratulations to the local Sioux Lookout committee and their loyal hockey fans for not only saving their team, but being able to do it so quickly,” SIJHL president Ron Whitehead said in a press release.
“I look forward to working with the new executive, and can only envision a strong, dedicated organization that will be with us for years to come,” he added.

The Sioux Lookout Flyers are back in business.
Owner Basil Goodchild and head coach Ray Miller left the SIJHL expansion team and turned over the reins to a local committee last week, but an emergency meeting generated enough local financial support to keep the franchise afloat.
