Unruly man on bus charged
Thursday, 9 October 2008 - 2:29pm
The driver told police a man had a pair of pruning shears in his hand and was disturbing other passengers, Nipigon OPP Cst. Shelley Garr said yesterday.
She said he was cutting the air, his shoelaces, and his toenails with them. He also was talking to himself, yelling on the bus, and was obviously agitated.
Police believe the man had been drinking.
He told officers the scissor-sized shears were tin snips, Garr added.
Douglas Alexander Smith, 46, is charged with two breaches of a recognizance signed Aug. 20 by a judge in Golden, B.C. that prohibited him from possessing knives or weapons except for food preparation, and from being under the influence of alcohol outside of his residence.
He is being held for a 30-day assessment, and is to be back in Thunder Bay court Oct. 31.
