Guest speaker well-received at men’s breakfast
Thursday, 21 August 2008 - 8:22am
In 1955, five of their missionary friends were killed by the Huaorani, another Indian tribe in that area. Drown led the ground search party into Huaorani territory to locate the men but he instead discovered the dead bodies of his friends.
The Drowns later co-authored a book, which became their memoirs, entitled “Mission to the Headhunters.”
Drown’s story of his faith, and how God changed the lives of the Huaorani tribe, is truly inspiring. His message to the men on hand for the monthly breakfast was very well-received.
The next breakfast meeting will be held on Sept. 20 at 8 a.m., and feature guest speaker Ken Wilson from Thunder Bay.

Every year, someone loses something at the Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society’s fall fair in Emo. This year, Aaron Kellar was quite upset when he lost his wallet.
Luckily for him, there still are honest people in the world. Luke Esselink found the wallet/money and handed it in to the fair board office.
Luke should be congratulated for doing the right thing!

The fall fair’s mini-queen and mini-king were crowned Saturday afternoon. This year’s winners were Allison King and Brett Schram.
Ashlee Nordstrom, the 2008 Emo Fair Queen, along with 1st Princess Dana Drennan and 2nd Princess Lauren Davis, asked the young participants questions while the judges listened carefully before arriving at their decision.
In related news, the crown worn by the fair queen has been donated each year by Debbie Carlson in memory of Jennifer Carlson. A digital camera won by Miss Congeniality also has been donated by John Bosma each year in memory of Jennifer.
About 40 men attended the men’s breakfast on Saturday morning at the Emo Legion.
The guest speaker was Frank Drown, who worked with his wife, Marie, for 37 years with the Jivaro Indians of eastern Ecuador, who were known for their head shrinking.
The Drowns later co-authored a book, which became their memoirs, entitled “Mission to the Headhunters.”
Drown’s story of his faith, and how God changed the lives of the Huaorani tribe, is truly inspiring. His message to the men on hand for the monthly breakfast was very well-received.
