Vandalism shatters peace

In the early hours of Saturday morning, an act of violence and vandalism shattered the peace, as well as windows, in Rainy River.
Residents on the 300 block of First Street were aroused from their beds shortly after 3 a.m. when a distraught woman seeking assistance appeared at the door of one house—and witnessed an individual attacking a neighbouring dwelling.

It appears three heavy landscaping blocks were hurled against that dwelling, shattering one window and damaging the stucco siding. A lawn ornament was thrown completely through another window.
Preliminary estimates by the owner of the dwelling put damages at a few hundred dollars.
The OPP were on the scene quickly. The women was comforted and questioned, but the alleged perpetrator of the violence was not located until sometime later.
The suspect was taken into custody and the police investigation continues.
Many residents on the street were awakened by the flurry of activity. But the OPP must be commended for their quick response in returning peace to the community.
