Hampton outraged

“These community leaders are standing up for their rights,” he added. “They and their community have been let down by the ministers of aboriginal affairs and northern development and mines and their ineptitude on this file.”
During Question Period on Monday, Hampton demanded the minister of aboriginal affairs resign over the affair.
Ontario NDP leader Howard Hampton expressed outrage at Monday’s court decision that will send Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug (KI) First Nation Chief Donny Morris and five other community leaders to jail for six months.
“This unfortunate decision is a direct result of the McGuinty government’s complete and utter failure to assume its constitutional responsibility to consult with First Nations’ communities regarding mineral exploration on their traditional lands,” said Hampton.
