Winnipeg hosting breast conference

Members of the Rainy River District Breast Health Network would like to let all district residents know the fifth-annual World Conference on Breast Cancer is taking place June 4-8 in Winnipeg.
“This is a great opportunity for local residents to attend a phenomenal conference,” said Network member Sandra McKinnon, who also is one of the Riverside Breast Health Program’s registered nurses.

McKinnon attended a world conference three years ago in Halifax.
“To have this calibre of conference taking place so nearby . . . it’s just a great opportunity!” she enthused.
The theme of the conference is “Heart, Soul & Science of Breast Cancer: It’s a Small World After All.”
Sessions will focus on survivorship; diagnosis and treatment; current research and prevention; fear of recurrence/advanced cancer; international, regional, and local issues; and advocacy and awareness.
Speakers will be featured from around the world, including Dr. Jeff Dunn from Australia, Ingrid Kossler, a breast cancer survivor from Sweden, Dr. Annie Sasco, a research unit team leader from France, Ronnie Kaye, a psychotherapist and breast cancer survivor, and many, many more.
Sessions will target all groups (e.g., survivors and their family members, youth, health-care professionals, and volunteers).
For more information on the conference and registration information, visit www.wcbcf.ca
The early registration deadline is March 31.
