Six southern Ontario moose hunters were fined $1,500 after pleading guilty to illegally leaving a hunt camp on Crown land in the Dryden area.
Carlos Bet, 62, of Mississauga, Joe Rossett, 67, and Joe Cortese, 48, of Brampton, Ben Quattrociocchi, 72, and Paul Quattrociocchi, 49, of Woodbridge, and Dino Zaina, 55, of Orangeville each were fined $250.
The men voluntarily cleaned up the site by removing the wooden building frame, cots, stove, beds, sink, countertop, water line, and all garbage before their court date.
Ministry of Natural Resources conservation officers from Dryden District discovered the illegal hunt camp near the Basket Lake Road in Wildlife Management Unit #5, about 40 km east of Dryden.
Justice of the Peace Edith Baas heard the case Oct. 21 in Dryden.
