The NorFab Flames PeeWee ‘AA’ girls’ hockey team put in a strong effort in the “Best of Times Hockey Tournament” in Fargo, N.D. over the weekend.
After facing stiff competition all tournament, the squad’s best result came in a win against the East St. Paul Aces (Manitoba) on Saturday.
The hard-working Flames sent a barrage of shots against a tough East St. Paul goalie who turned them back time and time again for the first two periods, but NorFab was not to be denied.
With only a few minutes left on the clock in the third period, a very determined Claire Sandelovich scored the go-ahead goal on a pass from Madisyn DeGagne.
After continued pressure and a number of scoring opportunities on the Aces’ goalie, Shilo Beck put the nail in the coffin, assisted by Amber Jourdain.
Shanleigh Fryer earned the shutout between the pipes.
Flames’ head coach Larry Beck gave credit to the whole team for the win, noting that when the whole team pulls together and works their hardest, good things eventually will happen.
The NorFab Flames are made up of girls from all three PeeWee house-league squads here in town.
Also on the team are Danielle Jackson, Taylor Hazel, Elizabeth Henderson, Mallory Payne, Madyson Weir, Amy Penner, Sarah Milling, Alexis-Faith Perrault, Katie Sinclair, Calie Clendenning, and Jessica Coran.
