The Portage Avenue underpass will be closed from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. tomorrow through Tuesday (Sept. 24-30) as rehabilitation work there continues, Operations and Facilities manager Doug Brown reported this morning.
Brown said crews will be pouring concrete tomorrow, and then will be installing a bottom row of seven soil anchors from Thursday to Tuesday.
They will work through the weekend, Brown noted.
Meanwhile, crews were expected to begin paving Central Avenue as of noon today.
They’re scheduled to lay down the first lift of asphalt on either side of the Central Avenue intersection today, and then pave the intersection itself tomorrow.
Brown said while the intersection is being paved tomorrow, eastbound traffic will be redirected up Central Avenue and onto First Street or Scott Street (their choice). Westbound traffic will be redirected onto Fourth Street.
“That shouldn’t hold up the traffic; there will be alternative routes,” stressed Brown.
The second lift of asphalt will be done sometime next week.
