Trustee elected OCSTA director

Press Release

At their 79th-annual general meeting held May 7-9, more than 200 members of the Ontario Catholic School Trustees’ Association gathered in Toronto to elect regional directors to its board.
The Northwest Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that vice-chair John Borst was appointed as director at large of Region 3.
“I was most honoured to have the Northwest Catholic board nominate me for the position, and I will strive to bring the education needs of Northwestern Ontario Catholics to the attention of the trustees’ association and, with their support, to the attention of the McGuinty government,” Borst said.
“All of us at the Northwest Catholic District School Board congratulate John on his appointment to the board of directors of OCSTA,” said Anne-Marie Fitzgerald, who chairs the local board.
“John will be a strong and knowledgeable voice for the interests and concerns of the northwest,” she added. “We thank him for his hard work and dedication to Catholic education.”
“John Borst is a strong advocate for Catholic education,” echoed Education Director Mary-Catherine Kelly. “He brings many skills that the provincial Catholic school trustees association will benefit from on this executive team.
“His work in organizing a website that reviews issues in Catholic education has been instrumental in sharing information about Catholic education across North America,” she noted.
“John’s technological skills will also be well-received and appreciated.
“We are proud to have John Borst representing the Northwest Catholic District School Board so that the northern perspective is brought to the provincial discussions,” Kelly added.
