The OPP is continuing its investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a Pikangikum First Nation man, identified as James Strang, 83, who was found deceased in his home last Friday morning.
Police continue to interview residents in an effort to determine who Strang had been in contact with in the hours prior to his death.
The OPP’s Criminal Investigation Branch has been called in to assist with the investigation. OPP Crime Unit personnel from Red Lake and Kenora also are assisting with the investigation under the direction of Det. Insp. Dennis Olinyk.
As well, OPP Emergency Response personnel are in the community conducting a number of evidentiary searches.
A post-mortem was conducted at Lake of the Woods District Hospital in Kenora on Tuesday.
Police are treating Strang’s death as a homicide, and will not be releasing the cause of death at this time.
